The Winning Equation: SEO Plus Conversion Optimization Equals Online Success

Combine SEO and Conversion Optimization strategies for online success. The combination of these two cornerstones maximizes your site's performance.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is the systematic process of increasing the percentage of website visitors who complete a desired action, whether purchasing, subscribing to a newsletter, or filling out a form. Essentially, CRO is about making your website as effective as possible at turning visitors into customers.

CRO and SEO: A Perfect Pair

CRO and SEO are intrinsically linked. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is about improving your website’s visibility in search engines and driving organic traffic to your site. However, traffic alone isn’t the end goal. What truly matters is what that traffic does once it arrives. That’s where CRO comes in, persuading visitors to take specific actions that benefit your business.

CRO Techniques from an SEO Standpoint

1. Keyword Optimization: The connection between SEO and CRO starts with keywords. Choose keywords with a high conversion potential – i.e., those indicating a strong purchase intent. For example, someone searching for “buy organic coffee beans online” is more likely to convert than someone looking for “coffee types.”

2. High-Quality Content: Create content that provides value to your visitors. Engaging, informative content builds trust and credibility, significantly improving conversion rates. Plus high-quality content is also favored by search engine algorithms.

3. Meta Descriptions and Titles: Your page titles and meta descriptions should be persuasive and contain your target keywords. These elements not only affect SEO but also influence click-through rates.

4. User Experience (UX): A website that is easy to navigate can significantly improve conversion rates. Site speed, mobile-friendliness, and intuitive design contribute to a positive user experience, which search engines reward with higher rankings.

Tools for CRO and SEO

1. Google Analytics: This tool provides insights into your website’s traffic, user behavior, and conversion rates. It’s invaluable for tracking your CRO efforts’ success and identifying improvement areas.

2. Hotjar: Hotjar offers heatmaps, session recordings, and user surveys to help you understand how users interact with your site. This data can guide your CRO efforts.

3. Microsoft Clarity: Microsoft Clarity is a behavioral analytics tool that turns user interactions into visual insights. Clarity offers a variety of dashboards, heatmaps, and session replays that reveal which parts of your site get the most—and most minor—engagement. It also has features such as rage clicks and dead clicks that make it easy to analyze issues that cause confusion and poor performance.

4. Semrush: Semrush is a comprehensive SEO tool with keyword research, competitor analysis, and site audit capabilities. It also offers a Lead Generation tool that can aid in CRO.

5.A/B Testing Tools (like Optimizely): A/B testing is crucial for CRO. Tools like Optimizely allow you to test different versions of your web pages to see which one converts better.

6. Yoast SEO / Rank Math SEO: These WordPress plugins help optimize your meta descriptions, titles, and content for SEO, boosting your site’s visibility and conversion potential.

Tactics To Build An SEO-Friendly CRO Strategy:

1. Be Strategic About Which Pages You Test On: CRO can negatively impact SEO by dramatically changing a page already attracting significant organic traffic. Opt for iterative A/B testing on pages with steady SEO traffic that doesn’t make up most of your site’s traffic. Also, focus your CRO changes on design rather than the page copy to minimize potential adverse effects on search ranking.

2. Keep a Level-Headed Perspective Regarding Rank Changes: Understand the value of search rankings. While aiming for the first ranking is the ultimate goal of SEO, sometimes, just getting into the top 10 results is an accomplishment. CRO allows you to focus on extracting more value from the traffic you already get.

3. Create Separate Budgets for SEO and CRO: Don’t view CRO and SEO as initiatives from the same budget pool. Instead, maintain separate budgets to ensure neither strategy is deprived of resources.

4. Unify Your SEO and CRO Strategies Under a Common Revenue Objective: CRO and SEO revolve around user experience. By unifying them under a common objective, you can ensure a coherent and user-friendly strategy that satisfies the goals of both CRO and SEO.

While SEO and CRO might seem like different disciplines, they’re two sides of the same coin. By implementing robust SEO strategies incorporating CRO principles, you’ll increase your website’s visibility and ability to convert visitors into customers. The tools and tactics outlined here will help you start your CRO journey.

Semrush Announces Game-Changing "Keyword Clustering" Feature

I am impressed with Semrush's new keyword manager features.

At Stradiji, we have used Semrush in all our projects for years. We create a Semrush project for each project, and if they wish, we give our customers the ability to follow the project outputs by giving them read-only access. Semrush, which we have been using for so many years, introduced the Keyword Clustering (keyword grouping or clustering) feature, which will be a game changer for me.

Automatic keyword clusters and mind maps that show potential, ranked pages and easily integrate with the writing assistant will make keyword-content mapping and prioritization much more accessible.

Rapid Increase in Artificial Intelligence Searches

Artificial intelligence (AI) is fast becoming one of the hot topics in 2023. This is evident when we look at users' interest in "artificial intelligence" in Google Search.

According to Google's Think With Google, searches for artificial intelligence have tripled year-on-year in key markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, including Turkey. This is no surprise to me.

There's also a fundamental shift in AI-related search behavior. Today, user searches are less about curiosity and more about exploring the practical implications of the technology. Practical queries like "how to ai" ("how to implement AI") are being asked at a higher rate than entry-level queries like "what is ai" ("what is AI").

Most users have accepted that AI is not a passing trend and have begun exploring how to use it in their daily routines.

Google has announced integrating GA4 features with AdSense accounts, a game-changer in tracking website performance.

Google has started enabling the integration of Google Analytics 4 features with AdSense accounts. The integration can improve the accuracy of ad engagement data. Despite the many benefits of this integration, you may encounter data inconsistencies.
