How Should The 2023 E-commerce SEO Strategy Be Created?

Recommendations on how e-commerce businesses can create an SEO strategy to increase the ranking and visibility of their digital presence are of great importance.

Google's updates, in particular, have become more sophisticated, targeting the quality of product reviews, among other things.

An example is the introduction of the "buying guide" search feature by Google.

Aleyda Solis — The Keys for Ecommerce SEO Success for 2023

This feature aims to provide users with informative content alongside product listings, making informed purchasing decisions easier. As a result, businesses need to create learning sections on their websites that can answer consumers' most common questions and provide them with the information they need to make informed decisions. This can also help gain backlinks, essential for improving search engine rankings.

Using user intent in keyword research to optimize content for search engines is essential. Many SEO tools now show user intent when providing keyword volumes, allowing businesses to understand what users are looking for and create content that meets their needs. This approach can help businesses rank higher in search engine results and drive more qualified website traffic.

Another way to improve e-commerce SEO is to utilize chatbots that integrate with search results in real-time. Chatbots can help businesses provide instant support and answer users' questions, increasing engagement and improving the user experience. For example, you can try using the Chatbase.co service that you can train with your blog posts.

When creating content for e-commerce websites, it is critical to identify product queries to target with informative content by identifying directories that rank well or outrank your website. This can help businesses create content that is both relevant and valuable to their target audience, which can improve search engine rankings.

Finally, businesses can speed up the guide writing and optimization process by using content optimization features with artificial intelligence capabilities. These tools can help businesses identify keywords, optimize content, and increase the readability and relevance of their content, all of which can improve search engine rankings.

All in all, e-commerce SEO is becoming increasingly challenging, but businesses can use various strategies to increase their online visibility.

By creating learning sections, using user intent in keyword research, leveraging chatbots, and optimizing content with artificial intelligence features, businesses can improve search engine rankings and drive more qualified traffic to their websites.

Digital Marketing 2023 Guide: Advice from Top Experts

I strongly recommend you read this guide article published on the ZEO blog.

I recommend you to read this guide article, which includes the particular recommendations of SEO and Digital Marketing experts for 2023, among which I am one of the participants.

Key Takeaways:

  • Content creation is still the cornerstone of digital marketing strategies. However, content quality, diversity, and proper distribution are even more critical.

  • 80% of internet users prefer videos. Therefore, producing and broadcasting video content is essential for brands to expand their customer base.

  • Digital advertising will have to comply with new laws to protect consumer data privacy. Therefore, brands must adopt more transparent and ethical approaches in their advertising campaigns.

  • New technologies such as voice search, smart speakers, and virtual assistants are changing consumer search habits. Brands need to develop strategies that align with these trends.

  • Artificial intelligence and automation in digital marketing strategies can increase efficiency and make marketing processes smarter.

  • Social media platforms are a vital tool for brands to improve customer experiences. However, selecting the right platforms and targeting the right audience is critical.

  • Businesses' SEO strategies must be optimized for local searches. This can help businesses with physical stores increase their local customer base.

  • Being mobile-friendly is now a necessity for businesses. Mobile-friendly websites and applications can enhance customers' brand experiences.

  • Email marketing strategies are still one of the most effective ways for brands to interact with customers. However, creating personalized and engaging content while considering customer experiences and privacy is essential.

  • Data analytics and reporting are critical tools for measuring the success of digital marketing strategies. Brands can continuously improve their strategies by monitoring their performance.

Google's John Mueller Advises on Rewriting Your Content with ChatGPT

Google's John Mueller Advises on Rewriting Your Content with ChatGPT

John's answers are educational, helpful, and a bit funny. John says that if your content is terrible, why rewrite it? If your content is bad, can ChatGPT make it useful? How do you know if the ChatGPT version is good quality and valuable? Maybe if the quality of your content is not good enough, you should focus on topics where you can write quality content instead of using ChatGPT.

Key points:

  • John Mueller argues against using ChatGPT to rewrite existing content.

  • John says there is no point in writing poor-quality content.

  • Before you can measure the quality of ChatGPT, you need to ensure you can write quality content yourself.

  • Instead of ChatGPT, he suggests focusing on topics where you can write quality content.

I partly agree with John - it's not a good idea to embed an article from ChatGPT on your site as it is. However, I've seen many times, especially for English content, that ChatGPT can rewrite previously written content in a much better way that doesn't lose meaning. So you can use ChatGPT to make a piece of content much better written, provided you have absolute control over it.

To summarize, if a Google spokesperson makes a statement, first listen and try to understand it, then take action if it makes sense. However, if what is being said doesn't make sense, not doing it or finding an alternative may work better in most cases.

How Does Google's Latest 'Useful Content System' Update Affect SERPs?

Adapted from Lily Ray's PubCon Austin 2023 presentation. An In-Depth Look at Google's Recent Algorithm Updates.

Google's latest algorithm updates include introducing the Useful Content system, which includes a (non-useful) content classifier to search for low-value and unhelpful content on sites.

This could result in a site-wide ranking drop, even for sites with generally helpful content. Some categories of sites affected include aggregator sites, low-quality affiliate sites, grammar sites, and travel blogs.

Creating helpful content should be overseen by humans and follow Google's recommendations to support website growth. Key takeaways include focusing on valuable content demonstrating E-A-T, content quality at scale, and investing in authors' online reputation and Knowledge Graphs.

Google Shares Advice on Moving a Domain Name to a Temporary Domain and Then Back to the Original Domain

If you don't know what to do in such a scenario, I recommend you read these recommendations.

I was very interested in this news as we are working on a similar scenario with an international client. This is not a situation you can often encounter in your SEO consultancy. Therefore, it is difficult for you to answer customer questions such as what will be our organic traffic loss after such a transition.

If you need to move your website from one domain to another and then move it back again, it's not an ideal situation for SEO. However, Google's John Mueller recommends using 301 redirects instead of 302 redirects if necessary. 302 redirects will increase complexity and make tracking harder, so it's not a best practice. For a temporary move, it's best not to use the change of address tool.

Key Points:

  • Moving back and forth between domains is an SEO nightmare.

  • John Mueller recommends using 301 redirects instead of 302 redirects.

  • Moving with 302 redirects will increase complexity and make tracking difficult.

  • Don't use the change of address tool for a temporary move.

Domain name changes can have a short-term impact on search rankings, but this can be mitigated by best practices such as updating redirects and links.

While a domain name change may not directly impact search rankings, it can indirectly impact user behavior and brand awareness, ultimately affecting a website's SEO.

25 Examples of ChatGPT Commands for Digital Marketers and SEOs

ChatGPT can be a handy assistant to support daily business tasks. This article lists examples of how to use ChatGPT for SEO and digital marketing.

Published in Search Engine Journal, this article provides successful examples of how ChatGPT can be used, such as creating creative writing prompts, answering complex questions, and providing personalized recommendations.

You can increase your individual or team productivity by implementing these examples in your routine work life.

Effortlessly Summarize Any Article with ChatGPT's Key Takeaways Feature

You can use ChatGPT to quickly generate "Key Takeaways" that briefly summarize the text.

Here is a ChatGPT prompt that will allow you to generate these takeaways for a given page. This can be an incredible time saver, especially if, like me, you read many articles each week and try to absorb the most valuable information.

Create a list of four key takeaways from this article: [URL]

Guidelines:

  • Create a heading "Key Takeaways"

  • Each conclusion should consist of only one sentence.

You can manipulate this command however you like. For example, if you want to know the critical points of a long article, you can ask it to list ten key takeaways instead of 4. You can also request that the takeaways are not just one sentence but a paragraph long.

My research shows that ChatGPT usually does an adequate job of summarizing the content of a given page. You can then add the resulting text to the "Key Takeaways" section at the top of your page. This is similar to websites like Investopedia's approach for their long articles.

As with all ChatGPT prompts, it is crucial to ensure that the resulting content accurately summarizes the information you provided. However, this approach can give users a brief overview of your blog posts or guide articles.

For example, if you don't have even 15-20 minutes to read a 3000-word article, it can help you absorb the article's key points very quickly.

This book is an essential resource to help you overcome remote working challenges.

Following in the footsteps of Nobel Prize-winning economists, the authors emphasize that our messages must reach the primitive brain, which plays a dominant role in persuasion.

With "The Persuasion Code in the Brain" by Dr. Christophe Morin and Patrick Renvoise, you can learn how to become a proven and extraordinary master of persuasion through a simple process based on the latest scientific findings. Unfortunately, massive resources are still spent on advertising campaigns that fail to motivate consumers and attract attention. But with this book, you will be able to effectively and successfully mobilize people by tapping into the primitive brain, which plays the dominant role in the persuasion process.
