Will ChatGPT Take Your Job?

Automation and AI promise to revolutionize how many people work, but don't worry — you'll be needed for a long time.

ChatGPT has all the signs of being a technological game changer. So, will ChatGPT take your job?

Powered by machine learning and massive amounts of data, a chatbot interacts with users in an incredibly realistic way.

But this model created by OpenAI does much more than just virtual chats. It can produce content such as poems or term papers, debug code, answer queries, and more.

This is an exciting development. But on a personal level, it's a bit of a concern, especially regarding its impact on job security.

If technology reaches a level that can do your job as well or better than you, what will you do for a living?

Most people have spent their entire careers working in one field. Do they all have to be carpenters or massage therapists? And if so, won't the competition for these roles be intense? How will we survive?

Just that thought is enough to have a panic attack.

But relax. Breathe into a paper bag if necessary.

Things are not so hopeless.

Everything is going to be okay. Airplanes have a complex autopilot system and are controlled mainly by computers during flight, but the pilots sit there and adjust the computer's controls as needed.

Yes, on a long enough time scale, technology will eventually take over your current role. However, this is unlikely to happen any time soon.

Machine learning and AI are still in their infancy, and you (hopefully) will have already retired before machines arrive for your business.

And before that happens, the power of tools like ChatGPT will allow you to fulfill your role with much greater efficiency and effectiveness.

The following article in the Search Engine Journal looks at some of the businesses most likely affected by ChatGPT.

Naturally, the section about SEO studies caught my attention:

Will ChatGPT Take Our Job As SEO Consultants?

ChatGPT is already used by professionals in the industry, including myself. From keyword research and strategy to content creation and reporting, ChatGPT shows excellent potential. However, this does not mean you will be removed from your job.

No matter how powerful AI-powered programs are, they will never be human, meaning they will never have our creative flair or mental quirks (although ChatGPT does produce some impressive creative work!).

Current AI systems need both human-guided training and human input to train. This limits their knowledge of current and recent events and makes human-produced studies a fundamental part of their study.

They also need human accuracy checkers. And let's not forget that Google considers AI-generated content against its guidelines. Still, the use of anti-AI detection algorithms is not without flaws.

In the foreseeable future, it looks like people will need to oversee AI-driven SEO, provide creative input, provide strategic direction, and adjust for changing search tides.

It seems unlikely to make a very long-term projection on this issue. But you will continue to protect your business for at least the next few years.

I see AI not as a threat but as an opportunity to make me a better SEO expert. Even if I don't intend to compete with artificial intelligence, I try to push the limits of my creative potential by constantly improving myself. I know that anyone can use AI today; it will be the creative people and the creative questions they ask of tools like ChatGPT that will make the difference. I even opened a blog about it to sharpen the ax; I'll wait :)

24 Experts Share How They Use ChatGPT for SEO

Are you thinking about how to use ChatGPT to improve your SEO efforts? You are not alone. Find out how 24 marketing professionals are using ChatGPT in this article.

I have a particular interest in how ChatGPT is used in my area of expertise in SEO. In this article, 24 digital marketing experts shared how they use ChatGPT in their SEO work.

Different usage methods of ChatGPT, from keyword research to content production, are shared. As I have stated many times before, it is helpful to know that the current version of ChatGPT is not perfect and up-to-date and is prone to error. However, it still has the potential to increase your efficiency in your SEO efforts tremendously, provided you are in control and make the final decision.

GPT-4 Coming: A Look at the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Here's an overview of the tips and prospects for GPT-4 and what the CEO of OpenAI has said about it recently.

While being so impressed with the current version of ChatGPT, it is impossible not to be affected by the rumors and speculations about the next version. Finally, OpenAI, which developed ChatGPT, shared some critical information about GPT-4.

You can find the full explanation in the article below. If you don't bother to read, let me summarize for you in 3 points;

  • OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says don't expect Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

  • Altman says Multi-Mode AI will come true

  • OpenAI CEO states that the rumor that GPT-4 has 100 Trillion parameters is false.

I wanted to share the last item precisely so we wouldn't be disappointed later. In recent years, we have tended to jump headfirst into every news we see on Twitter and pretend it's real. It is helpful to put every piece of news we see to the reality test.

Google Search Will Launch Chatbot Features This Year

Google put artificial intelligence 'foreground and center' and turned to its founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, for help with its AI strategy.

According to the New York Times, Google will introduce a version of its search engine with chatbot features this year.

Artificial intelligence—and OpenAI's ChatGPT in particular—has been discussed nonstop for the past two months. Microsoft is reportedly currently working on adding ChatGPT features to Microsoft Bing search.

This has the potential to reshape SEO significantly. If you think featured snippets are stealing your traffic, wait until Google can begin to accurately answer some of the more complex questions your existing content is designed to answer.

In December 2022, after the launch of ChatGPT and the backlash it received, Google CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly issued a "code red," recognizing the technology as an urgent and significant threat to Google's search business.

Google executives reportedly called Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who left their jobs in December 2019, for several meetings about the company's artificial intelligence product strategy. Before that, Google hadn't been interested in search since the two left Google, according to the Times.

Google plans to introduce more than 20 new products this year and showcase a chatbot-enabled version of its search engine, according to a slide presentation reviewed by The New York Times and two people who knew about the plans but were not authorized to disclose them.

Three priorities are mentioned in this chatbot search presentation:

  • Reaching the facts.

  • Provide security.

  • Getting rid of false information.

Google may block certain words to avoid hate speech and will try to minimize hate and other potential issues with toxicity, danger, and misinformation.

We Will Talk About ChatGPT Technology in Zemin Istanbul

Are you ready to talk about the innovations ChatGPT and similar artificial intelligence tools will bring to our lives?

On Tuesday, January 24, I was invited to speak on ChatGPT technology at Zemin Istanbul. After the pandemic, I longed for face-to-face events and immediately accepted. Together with our dear Fatih Kadir Akın and Cagri Kupeli, we will talk about ChatGPT and the possible innovations it will bring to our lives. If your schedule is available, we are waiting for you :)

Google Decides to Lay 12,000 Employees

Google's parent company Alphabet has announced that it has made the first mass layoffs in its 25-year history.

On Friday, January 20, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that they have decided to lay off 12,000 employees and contractors, or about 5% of the total workforce. This appears to be the biggest layoff the company has ever made.

I think that the excessive interest in technology around the world during the pandemic has made the expectations of technology companies too optimistic and that they all failed in terms of expectations after the pandemic. It doesn't surprise me that CEOs who make money with a donkey's burden cut the bill for their employees. Moreover, Sundar Pichai made a kind of confession by stating that his own wrong decisions caused this situation.

Will Google Search Be Affected?

We are not sure. There is no indication of which jobs will be cut or saved. However, the search and advertising industry's support and customer service personnel are likely to be affected. Advertisers may be frustrated by long wait times for chat or delayed ad approvals, reviews, and appeals if this happens.

Massive job loss will be hard for those affected. While most will receive generous severance packages, they may have trouble finding new employment in their field. Also, mass layoffs can frighten investors, the company loses valuable skills, and surviving employees feel uncertain.

Sitelinks: What is it and How to Get It?

Find out what sitelinks are so you can have a more positive impact on your audience.

Sitelinks are additional links or navigation elements in the SERP (Search Engine Result Pages or Search Engine Result Pages) with a text or ad result for a specific website or domain.

More broadly, they are navigational (intend to reach a specific address) and allow searchers to see more ways to click on your site.

In today's context-driven SEO and an increased emphasis on user engagement and experience, sitelinks not only increase visibility in Google results but also enable you to get basic clicks and keep users on your site when they land.

In organic search, Google's algorithm only shows sitelinks for pages it considers relevant and valuable to the user. We once had some say in which pages could be shown as sitelinks, at least partially. Now Google has automated this.

One of the benefits of sitelinks is that they can increase clickthrough rates (CTR) as they increase the space a text result has on the SERP.

The following article recommends some great ways to get sitelinks. I recommend you read it.

Improved Thumbnail Indexing Issues in Google Search Console Video Indexing Report

As of January 19, 2023, Google has updated the video indexing report in Google Search Console. It now more accurately reports thumbnail indexing issues.

Google posted this on its data anomalies page and explained: “Search Console can now classify thumbnail indexing issues more accurately. As a result, you may find that “Missing thumbnail” issues are reassigned to more specific issue types. The total number of affected videos should remain the same.”

So, if you see the same number of reported issues in total, it's not a new bug, but the bugs may have been reassigned to a different bug type.
