20 Ways to Leverage ChatGPT in Your SEO Activities

From keyword clustering to structured data generation. Learn 20 different scenarios to leverage ChatGPT in your SEO Activities.

The release of ChatGPT (interactive chatbot built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3.5) by OpenAI at the end of last month has taken the world by storm, including the SEO industry, for the sophistication and quality of the answers. So much so that it caused the Google administration to issue a 'code red' due to its growing popularity in searching for information.

However, many of its limitations, such as unawareness of content created after 2021, built-in biases, and the fact that is ultimately incorporating purely AI-generated content violates Google's guidelines, many of which were described at launch and in this and these comprehensive guides covering ChatGPT by Roger Montti. So it's essential to be aware.

It doesn't take a prophet to predict that ChatGPT will develop further in 2023. It is possible to increase efficiency in your SEO work with ChatGPT, taking into account the warnings of Google.

In the article written by Aleyda Solis, the link you can find below, the use of ChatGPT for SEO purposes has examined over 20 different scenarios.

I am sure you will discover different usage areas as you use ChatGPT.

1. Creating Static XML Sitemaps

2. Creating a JSON-LD Schema

Microsoft Bing with ChatGPT Support Reportedly Released in March

Microsoft's Bing search engine is getting ready to be powered by the integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot technology.

Another piece of news came this week that will infuriate the Google search engine and prioritize its disregard for ChatGPT. Bing search engine plans to serve with ChatGPT support in March 2023.

  • Microsoft plans to update the Bing search engine with artificial intelligence from OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot to improve search results.

  • The new feature is expected to be available at the end of March and will give Microsoft a competitive advantage over Google.

  • Microsoft invested $1 billion in OpenAI in 2019, and the two companies have collaborated to integrate GPT into Bing.

Those who have experienced ChatGPT will know well that the search engine is ChatGPT, which means that searchers will see their answers in the search engine results and less traffic to the sites. Are you prepared for such a situation?

Bing is considered a low-priority and relatively less-used search engine. What if Google follows this trend? I think it's worth thinking about now.

It's worth noting that OpenAI plans to charge for ChatGPT in the future, much like what it sets from programmers using GPT to create text-generating bots. This could mean that Bing could become one of the only free access points to GPT.

Microsoft's Bing search engine is set to get a boost with the integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT chatbot technology.

John Mueller: It's Not a Good Idea to Blindly Use ChatGPT for Title Tag

As ChatGPT continues to blow, statements about ChatGPT continue to come from Google spokespersons.

John Mueller said on the social media platform Mastodon that blindly using AI or ChatGPT to create a title tag is not a great idea. However, he added that if you need inspiration, you can use these tools for some ideas.

John wrote: "I don't know if AI is the right approach for creating titles and descriptions, but it seems like a good way to get inspired or try new things if you're running out of ideas and especially if you're seeing pages show up with the wrong terms in the search. Still, I wouldn't recommend following it blindly: you know your audience better than any tool."

As someone who has been in the internet industry since 2008, I think like this. In recent years, people's mental laziness has reached such dimensions that they try to get an idea about a subject by watching only 2 minutes of a 10-minute video at two times the average speed. The same reason lies behind why bloggers prefer Twitter over writing blog posts. Few people choose to read a 1000-word blog post. Instead, they are content to scan superficially.

This also applies to content creators. It is challenging for today's content producers to constantly produce original and creative content and focus on one subject. At this point, ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools seem to come to the rescue.

However, as I mentioned before, it would be beneficial to think of these tools as assistants where you will have the last word and not immediately update every suggestion on your site or blog.

Google's John Mueller said on Mastodon that using AI or ChatGPT blindly for title tag generation is not a great idea. But he did add that if you are running out of ideas and need some inspiration, you can leverage the tools for some ideas.

Google Search Research Report Says SEO Practices Tend to be of Very Poor Quality

Could Google's helpful content update be based on this research report?

A Google research paper called Generative Models are Unsupervised Predictors of Page Quality draws a negative connotation of SEO practices. A section titled “Search engine optimization (SEO) initiatives” states that “pages with SEO tend to be marked as very low quality.”

This article was first highlighted by Roger Montti, who asked if this research paper was relevant to the helpful content update.

The chapter continues: “This is counter-intuitive because these texts tend to combine several keywords and are therefore inconsistent. We also found a moderate number of product pages and professional profiles trying to perform some form of SEO. We have observed that media-centric domains such as image hosting often contain incomprehensible embedded text, possibly for SEO.”

A Google research paper named Generative Models are Unsupervised Predictors of Page Quality paints a negative connotation of SEO practices. It has a section named

Google: Helpful Content Update and Link Spam Update Still In Progress

It looks like these updates will be completed by the end of January.

In a tweet this week, John Mueller stated that these two updates are still in progress. We need a little more patience to complete these two updates. During this time, it will be up to us SEO consultants to explain the ranking fluctuations to their clients :)

Welcome back from the holidays, don't worry; you didn't miss much. The December 2022 helpful content update and December 2022 link spam update are not done yet. They should be done soon, but right now, when I write this, they are not done.

Semantic Modeling for Semantic SEO

Here are some steps you can follow to create an SEO-based semantic model for your website.

Building a semantic model for a website involves organizing the content and structure of the site in a way that is meaningful and easy to understand for both users and search engines.

The article published on Schemantra.com, the link below, explains in great detail how you can do this.

Identify the main topics and categories of ypur website Identifying the main topics and categories that a website will cover involves determining the key areas of focus that the website will address This can involve brainstorming and researching to come up with a list of relevant and engaging topics, and…

Google Removes 110 Character Limit from Article Title Structured Data

Google makes updates to structured data from time to time.

Google has updated the "article" structured data help documentation by removing the 110-character limit from the title properties. "Consider using a short header as long headers can be cut off on some devices," they say.

Learn how adding article schema markup to your news articles and blogs can enhance their appearance in Google Search results.

Google stated they “removed the 110-character limit for the title attribute in article structured data documents.” “There is no fixed character limit; we recommend writing short and concise titles as long titles may be cut off on some devices.”

John Mueller Says The Essential SEO Skills for 2023 Are Curiosity and Persistence

What do you think John means by stating this? I shared my thoughts.

Google's John Mueller was asked what SEO skills will be needed in 2023. He also said that it takes "curiosity and persistence."

You should always try new things and test new technologies, strategies, and content ideas by feeding your curiosity. The only way to learn is to try something and be prepared to fail a lot.

With "perseverance," you should never give up, keep trying new things and not expect results overnight. SEO is a long game, and it takes a lot of effort over a long period, working very hard to see results.

Pretty obvious, right? I don't think it's enough. I tried to interpret for myself what John was implying.

The year 2022 witnessed many innovations for Google. There have been more updates than we have ever seen before, and the pieces still do not fall into place.

Do not look at those who constantly publish success stories; they are only those who enter projects that will be successful. Unfortunately, many site owners suffer from relentless ranking fluctuations and constant Google updates.

John is probably trying to say that these updates and changes will continue in 2023, and we must be prepared for this.

Why try to test new things when everything is going well constantly? The poet means that I will continue to break the rules here. Our responsibility will be to persevere in this obscurity and uncertainty :)

Google's John Mueller was asked what SEO skills does one need in 2023. To which he replied,
